It seems everyone and their mama is anticipating the release of Nappily Ever After, starring Sanaa Lathan, on Netflix on Sept. 21st. The film explores themes of natural hair versus processed hair, love, acceptance, and striving for perfection. It seems the Haifaa Al-Mansour-directed film is setting up to be a cultural phenomenon, much like the novel of the same name written by Trisha R.Thomas, Insecure, and Atlanta.
To get the party surrounding Nappily Ever After started early, celebrity hair stylist and founder of The Cut LifeLarry Sims and Tahira J. Wright hosted, in conjunction with Netflix and Strong Black Lead, a celebratory dinner at Yebo Beach Haus in Atlanta on behalf of the upcoming Netflix film.
Current and former Bravolebrities joined Sims, who was the subject of his own Bravo reality show, Invite Only: Cabo. Among the attendees were reality stars Phaedra Parks from TheReal Housewives of Atlanta and Quad Webb-Lunceford from Married to Medicine.
