Heard on the Street: Does Drake Have Barack Obama's Approval for Biopic?
“I will say this — Drake seems to be able to do anything he wants. I mean, that is a talented, talented brother.”
“If the time comes and he’s ready, Drake has, more importantly, my household’s stamp of approval. I suspect Malia and Sasha would be just fine with it.”
— Former President Barack Obama reveals whether actor-turned-rapper Drake is up for the task of playing him in a biopic, during an interview for Complex News’ “360 with Speedy Mormon,” following the release of Obama’s third memoir A Promised Land. Drake expressed in 2010 that he’d love to portray Obama, but ever the politician, Obama doesn’t exactly commit to the idea. Instead, he says his daughters Malia and Sasha would be happy about the “Hotline Bling” rapper’s casting. Obama says he has more important things to worry about. He said in the distanced interview, “It’s best for me not to worry too much about how I’m being portrayed in that fictional life, because I’ve got a real life with real responsibilities.”
