Producers of Tina announced today, Oct. 3rd, that the musical based on entertainer Tina Turner is headed to Broadway for a fall 2019 release.
Tina made its world debut in London in April. The story was written by Katori Hall, Frank Ketelaar, and Kees Prins, with Phyllida Lloyd directing. Performance dates, casting, and other details for the Great White Way production haven't been revealed just yet, but are expected in the coming months, reports Page Six.
The musical includes songs "Private Dancer,” ”River Deep, Mountain High,” ”Better Be Good to Me,” and (my personal favorite) “Proud Mary.”
Tina will continue the trend of the "jukebox musical biographies" on Broadway, like Jersey Boys and those highlighting the careers of fellow divas Donna Summer, Carole King, Cher, and Gloria Estefan.
