We could start this article out by saying that 2017 is going to be an interesting year for European football, but who are we kidding? Every single year is interesting for European football. This year there are plenty of promising individuals to keep an eye on, who will more than likely bring the game to all new heights. Let’s take a quick look at some of them!
Position: Right Back
We all remember Hector Bellerin, he looked like a kid but he did some serious damage, and it was hard to believe that he hadn’t been playing on that field for years. Now he has been playing for years, and he’s probably one of the best right backs in all of Europe. H e’s great at defense, great at offense, and can run faster than nearly anyone. The only problem, as of right now, it that he’s suffered an injury and he’s definitely been set back a little bit. Still, if he recovers well, Manchester City and Barcelona both have their sights set on him. He’s got choices.
Reneato Sanches was clearly the breakout star of Euro 2016, and he really managed to position himself as a threat on what was otherwise a very weak team. Not to mention, he’s being paid the fourth highest fee in his team’s history. It’s hard to tell what direction he’s going to be going in, but we’re pretty sure he’ll be taking Bayern Munich to new heights in 2017.
Here we have a pretty good forward who managed to create 44 chances in the 2016 season, out of which nine were scored, so to say that he is a valuable player would be a gross understatement. His control over the ball is matched only by Cristiano Ronaldo, although, he does seem to lack positional awareness from time to time. Still, he’s a rising star, and he’s going to make 2017 an interesting year for Borussia Dortmund.
While Sterling might have looked pretty amazing at first, he did spend some time sliding backwards as Liverpool’s team fell to shambles. Quite frankly, he was given too much responsibility, too early on, and it really showed. Still, we think he’s grown quite a bit and things have changed significantly since Liverpool. It’s hard to say what’s going to happen next, but we know he has something up his sleeve.
